UDL Guideline 8.2 - Vary demands and resources to optimize challenge: Provide alternatives in the permissible tools and scaffolds.  This is the IPad app for the donorschoose.org site and allows community members to donate money directly to the classroom that they want to.  In most cases, teachers are asking for technology to help accommodate the variety of students in their classroom.  Parents/guardians/grandparents are happy to provide funding for something that directly applies to their child.

General Critique
If we accept the fact that technology is essential for UDL to work in the classroom, then there must be a way for teachers to get those resources during these tight economic times.  In school districts where the funding is limited, this is an example where a teacher can request (and fund) appropriate technology in the classroom.

Product
In this case, my daughter (who is a teacher in North Carolina), was able to procure a variety of technology that benefited her students.  In this world of tightening finances, teachers can take control by asking for help.  Edyburn (2010) would argue that this is an important part of community-building in the classroom.
