UDL Guideline 2.4 -  Promote understanding across languages
Scan & Translate allows the user to take a picture of a document, choose the language of the original document and translate the text into the target language. For most of the target languages, the text can be read aloud. The optical character recognition software is not perfect, but the user can edit the original text before translating.


General Critique

Technology is critical for implementing UDL and that is displayed using this app. Technology makes it possible to translate a document into a target language, a task that would have previously required locating a person fluent in both languages. Teachers can quickly and easily make documents and vocabulary  accessible to English Language Learners in their primary language.
